Gearbox Software and 2K just dropped the first trailer for Borderlands 4 during The Game Awards, and it's a loot-splosion of epic proportions!
The trailer introduces a brand new villain, the iron-fisted dictator The Timekeeper, who's holding onto his grip on power a little too tightly. A world-altering event throws everything into chaos on Kairos, the most dangerous Borderlands planet yet.
This looks like the biggest Borderlands game ever, with Gearbox promising "intense action, badass Vault Hunters, and billions of wild and deadly weapons." The press release mentions the deepest skill trees ever seen in the series, giving players more ways to customize their characters than ever before.
Exploration is getting a boost too, with seamless travel between zones, events to discover, and a sweet new vehicle you can summon to explore the "beautiful vistas of Kairos." Whether you prefer to blast through the story solo or team up with three friends, Borderlands 4 looks like it'll deliver the signature co-op mayhem fans know and love.
"Borderlands 4 is about freedom and being badass,” says Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford. He also promises the "biggest and most insane world we’ve ever made" filled with "jerkface ratnozzle scrote monsters" that need to be dealt with using the "most over-the-top hardcore nuts op guns and loot in any game ever." Sounds like classic Borderlands alright!
Borderlands 4 will be blasting its way onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store sometime in 2025. You can wishlist the game now to stay updated on the latest news.
